Work Experience

Work experience is an exciting way of discovering whether or not your dream job really does live up to your expectations. There are not many times in your life that you will get this great opportunity, so make good use of it.

Work experience will take place in the week before the October half term of Year 11. Places are limited and the more exciting jobs go quickly. If possible you should be thinking of what you want to do and where you want to go during Year 10. Try to contact the company you are hoping to work with and find out if they have any places available.

Your work experience placement could develop into a part time Saturday job, and later into a full time job, so take it seriously.

First impressions count so DO ensure you turn up on time. If you are ill make sure someone phones and lets the company know. DO dress correctly according to the place you are working. If you are working in a garage don't wear your best clothes, although if you are working in an office dress smartly (no short skirts!)

Most importantly, work experience will be fun, but expect it to be hard work and be prepared to have a go at anything. For two weeks you will experience what it is like to have a full time job and work a full day, so you will be tired.

For more information contact Mr Claytor or your form tutors who will be able to point you in the right direction.
