THE AIMS OF LEARNING IN FRENCH
Key Stage 3
Métro is a French course which is a topic based approach combined with grammatical progression. it is fully differentiated with opportunities for assessment at regular intervals.
Topics include family, free time, daily routine, food, Paris , news, geography of France and health.
Key Stage 4
The French Department offers a two year course providing complete preparation to GCSE. All topics of GCSE are covered including integrated grammar explanations and activities.
Coursework is offered as an alternative to a written exam at the end of Year 11. The final examination (WJEC) provides opportunities for students to sit either at Foundation or Higher levels in each skill area.
Topics include health, world of work, education and the world around us.

the grammar of the TL and how to apply it

working with authentic materials in the TL
communicating with native speakers
considering their own culture and comparing it with the cultures of the countries and communities where the TL is spoken
considering the experiences and perspectives of people in these countries and communities
- BREADTH OF STUDY - pupils should be taught the knowledge, skills and understanding through
communicating in the TL in pairs, groups and with the teacher
using everyday classroom events as an opportunity for spontaneous speech
expressing and discussing personal feelings and opinions
