The Physical Education Department consists of two full time teachers. A number of other staff also have a small timetable commitment to the teaching of the subject. The Department has a comprehensive program of extra-curricular activities which are well-supported. Some clubs are recreational and others are competitive. Clubs are usually well attended. We successfully compete in District and County Competitions at a variety of sports.Core PE In accordance with Government policy, every child is timetabled two core PE lessons a week. In these lessons they participate in a variety of sports including football, rugby, volleyball, basketball, cricket, athletics and hockey, to name a few. At Key Stage 3 all students follow modules of work in games, gymnastics, dance and outdoor adventure activities. Students are generally taught in mixed ability groups and may work in single or mixed gender groupings. At Key Stage 4, students follow on a rotation with a range of activities including hockey, netball, rugby, football, badminton, volleyball, rounders, cricket, tennis and basketball. They are generally taught in single sex groups.GCSE PE GCSE PE has a strong following in school. Those pupils who take this as an option will have two extra PE lessons a week.
