Extended Schools
What is an Extended School ?
Throughout 2008 the Grange will be supported by the County Council to develop our Extended Schools status. An Extended School is one that works in partnership with other schools and agencies to provide a range of services and activities, often beyond the school day, to help meet the needs and improve outcomes for children, young people, their families and the wider community.
The range of services includes childcare, health and social care, lifelong learning, family learning, parenting support, study support, sport and arts and ICT.
An Extended School recognises that it cannot work alone in helping young people to achieve their potential, and therefore decides to work in partnership with other agencies that have an interest in outcomes for children and young people and with the local community. In doing so, consistent with workforce reform and remodelling, it aims to help meet not only the school's objectives, but also to share in helping to meet the wider needs of children, young people, families, and their community.
At the Grange we are already offering a variety of such services, but we want to ensure that our existing provision is right for you and continues to meet your needs. To enable us to get this right, please tell us if there is anything you wish us to know, think we should be doing or if there are any suggestions you would like to make about the range of services listed above.
The Grange School 's Extended Schools Co-ordinator is Mr Kris Dobson.
