Welcome to the Parents and Carers Home Page
Contacting the School
Parents and carers who wish to discuss matters concerning their child should telephone the School (01743 445493) for an appointment. The secretaries treat information confidentially and unless you explain the nature of the call, it is very difficult for them to arrange for you to speak to the most appropriate person.
Parents and carers will appreciate that staff, including the Headteacher, will not be available to deal with enquiries if they are teaching. In such cases, secretaries will either take a message or direct enquiries to another person who should be able to help.

HERE ARE SOME TIPS TO HELP PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR YOUR CHILD DURING THE FIRST WEEKS OF SECONDARY SCHOOL
Admissions
The School's current admissions policy is operated by Shropshire County Council, which is the Admissions Authority for all Community and Controlled Schools within Shropshire . Full details of the policy, together with information about the arrangements for admission are set out in the 'Parents' Guide to Education in Shropshire', copies of which are available from the School, local libraries and the Admissions Team, Children and Young People's Services Directorate, Shirehall, Abbey Foregate, Shrewsbury SY2 6ND (or click on the link below).
It is fair to say that the majority of children attending the School in 2010 previously attended one of the three local Junior Schools - Mount Pleasant , Grange Junior and Greenacres. However, parents/guardians should be aware that attendance at a particular Primary School does in no way guarantee a place at the School. If there are more applications for places than are available within the admission limit, then priority will be given based on:
• Children in public care, usually referred to as "Looked After Children" resident in Shropshire , alongside those children who have a Statement of Special Educational Needs from Shropshire County Council which names the schools which the child should attend because their needs can be met best by that particular school and its facilities.
• Children living in the Shrewsbury area who have an older sibling* attending the school on the first day of the term they are due to start at the school.
• Children in the designated area whose homes are nearest to the school. (See the Parents' Guide to Education in Shropshire for further details).
• Children who live outside the overall catchment area. Priority will be given firstly to children who will have an older sibling* at the school on the day they are due to start there and secondly to those whose homes are nearest to the school, measured as a straight line on the map between home and school.
Any specific requests for information on admissions should be directed to the LEA's Admissions Team on 01743
